The Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Australians

The Australian Government have acknowledged and expressed concerns about the limited availability of effective bilingual support services that are centred to the needs of the minority, non-English speaking citizens with disabilities. This group of people have been experiencing multiple disadvantages and are often the most marginalized group in our society. Helping them requires an effective and supportive system of networks which links them to the relevant services. However, there is currently an inadequate supply of such support system for these Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) Australians.

At Viet Wellbeing, we recognise there are many difficulties experienced by the Vietnamese community and the CALD Australians; such as difficulties in accessing government services due to limited English skills in addition to their disabilities or mental illnesses.

We believe that everyone has the right to be heard and to be understood; the right to equal access to support services; the right to be treated with respect and dignity regardless of race, gender or capability; and to discuss distressing issues with people who have a familiar cultural background.

We are a passionate organisation which aims to serve and enhance the life of disadvantaged Vietnamese community and the CALD Australians who are experiencing difficulty learning about or accessing appropriate support services. We strive to break through barriers which in the past have led to insufficiency and delay in addressing the needs of the Vietnamese community and CALD Australians.

In partnership with others, we commit to develop and deliver culturally appropriate programs to:

  • Provide education, training, skills building and job readiness to enable people to live their full potential

  • Recruitment and connecting people to an appropriate career pathway.

  • Promote independence, well-being, self confidence and social participation

  • Stand up for equal rights and opportunity; and create an atmosphere of welcome, comfort and trust.

Children and Teens Services

Viet Wellbeing can support children or young adult to become more independent at home and in the community.

We take an evidence-based approach that allows us to analyse the child or teen’s individual strengths, weaknesses, age, and stage of development, and work with the families to develop strategies that they can use to work through their everyday challenges.

Depending on the needs of the child or teen, we can also coordinate therapeutic services including a speech pathologist, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, and psychologist for them

At Home

For many young people, becoming more independent becomes vital as they get older. Our support workers will work with you at home to create solutions to a wide range of everyday challenges as simple as packing a school bag, or as complex as cooking a meal.

In the Community

The feeling of being included among peers, family, and the community is often fairly important for young people. We can provide services that assist you in participating in sports, clubs, and other community activities. We also aim to build confidence and independence by assisting with tasks such as taking public transport, learning to shop, and money management. We offer outings with our support workers to help assist you with these actions.

Adult Services

We work with adults of all ages with the aim of creating and achieving their goals. We provide both home support and social support.

This includes:

  • Maintaining health and well-being

  • Living more independently

  • House tasks which includes cooking and cleaning

  • Engaging in social activities

  • Learning new skills

Together with our support workers, therapist and carers we will discuss and create a plan that suits your needs, interests, and goals; and how we can help you accomplish them.
